At the end of December I had taken Kyla to the doctor because she had been complaining of chest pain. At that time, we were told it was inflammation and told to take aleve for the pain. After trying that for about 3 months with no improvement, I decided to take her back a second time. At this point the doctor was baffled and decided to ‘try’ prilosec for a month. After two weeks of prilosec, the pain intensified and was more frequent. Daily headaches also started, so I called the doctor…again. This time we were referred to a GI specialist at Riley Hospital.
We went this past Monday to Riley and saw Dr. Croffie. He examined her and said he doesn’t think it’s her esophagus, he thinks it’s her heart. He went ahead and took an x-ray and scheduled Kyla for an endoscopy next Thursday. If the results come back okay then he is referring her over to pulmonary to see the heart specialist.
As I have shared before, Satan is attacking in big ways. In my mind I can hear my counselor saying things like “you will not be given more than you can handle” or “you go through these tough times because God is teaching you how to become like Jesus”.
Going to counseling is really helping me put things in perspective. I am reminded every week I’m there that GOD IS IN CONTROL!

Whoa, I will pray for her. It's great that you are remembering what your counselor has said. Remembering that God is in full control will help you get through the tough times.
ReplyDeleteAs Kyla's Dad, this is a message to all who are a part of her life.
ReplyDeleteI would like to first and foremost say publicly, "Thank you, Jenny, for never giving up on me, even though you wanted to and in everyone else's eyes had a right to. On this side of the Cross, I can sincerely and most assuredly say that it was the prayers of those who never gave up on me that reached the throne-room of heaven. And because Jesus is a relentless pursuer of my soul, He has saved me, and my life is now 100% His. The joy of the Lord is my strength, and how joyful it is to me to know that when I pray for my daughter Kyla, God smiles and poors out the same mercy on her as He did for me and continues to poor-out.
I want to give honor where honor is due. Jenny, you did NOT take the councel of your piers, even the ones who claimed to be "Christians" when they told you to write me off. Jenny Teller, you did the right thing and the harder thing, and clung to the old rugged cross and you prayed for me.
"For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God" (1 Corinthians 1:18).
Though to many it seemed, or still seems foolish, loving the un-lovable, praying for those that persecute us, and loving those who are hostile toward us and to God, this IS a command NOT a suggestion for all Christians. And Jenny has done this very thing!
We may want to consider her example the next time we are so READY to just excommunicate our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ, or to counsel others based on our pathetic emotions and feelings because we've been hurt, or have seen our closest friends hurt! How quick we are to judge and condemn the lost, saying they are without hope.
"God IS in control! "O the depth of the riches both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! How unsearchable are his judgments, and his WAYS past finding out" (Romans 11:33).
God is always willing to let us go and turn us over to ourselves, knowing that when we come to the end of ourselves we will become the prodigal son, repent, and turn to Him and come home.
I personally praise the Name of Jesus Christ for Jenny's long-suffering, for her relentless, slef-less prayers, and for her diligence as a godly mother.
"Way-to-go Jen-naay!" Like lieutenant Dan, "I got new leeggs!!"
